Aspull get a taste of Ireland
Andy Webster, parent and coach at Aspull Juniors went on a normal family holiday to Spain and got talking to friends from Ireland.
As the conversation turned to football, Andy and his Irish counterparts found they had something in common - they were both involved in big local football clubs. Over a Spanish beer, they arranged a tour for their under 8s and under 11s and 18 months later it became a reality. 50 kids and 40 adults came from Ireland to Aspull to play two matches. The teams were treated to the usual Wigan welcome with Cllrs Ready and Conway on hand to provide and present medals and plaques to the visitors
